If you’ve experienced sexual harassment or sexual assault, you may feel very alone. You may not know what to do or who to turn to for support. You may also struggle with feelings of shame and despair. Sometimes the family or friends you talk to during or after you experience harassment or assault may not offer the right words of support that you need to feel less alone in your experience.
At MSB Justice, we have helped many women, and a few men, who have experienced sexual harassment and sexual assault. We understand what it means to have endured a workplace trauma and feel lost, confused and unsure what to do next. While there are legal considerations that our skilled attorneys have significant experience and success handling, we know that’s not the only thing you need to heal.
One way that some clients have sought solace, strength and comfort following difficult or harmful workplace situations is from music. A few recent songs have even addressed sexual harassment and sexual assault, including Lady Gaga’s Til It Happens To You, MILCK’s Quiet and Fletcher’s song I Believe You.
In addition to music, which can provide audible comfort, especially when friends or family fall short, other modalities that have helped sexual harassment and sexual assault clients in their healing journey include therapy, psychiatry, energy healing or Reiki, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR) therapy, light or sound therapy, art therapy, healing circles, time in nature and other self-care or regulation techniques, such as yoga, mediation, running or other exercises.
We take our role to provide outstanding legal counsel to survivors very seriously and handle tough issues with care and kindness. Our attorneys are trauma-informed and partner Bree Johnson has a Trauma-Informed Advocate certification. We fight fiercely on a survivor’s behalf against even the most powerful, wealthy or famous foes. We aren’t afraid to take on big companies, C-level or Board level individuals, celebrities, actors, well-known creatives or authors, professional athletes and anyone else who abuses their position of power.
